National Trophy CX Race – Round 1 Derby 7th October 2017

M1 Race report from supported rider Matthew Kingston

I was gridded second row, got a really good start and was 8th into the first corner which was really fast.
I held this position until we went into the sand pit section where I made a mistake of not attacking the sand fast enough and had to get off and run, costing me a few positions.
I was also cautious on the first lap as it took time to check that the very slippy conditions from the morning practice had dried up and improved.
I then held onto my position quite well through the rest of the race having a really good battle with a Welwyn rider until finally dropping him on the last lap.
I finished 14th so was really pleased with myself as I wanted to finish in the top 15 riders. LCCC were top team on the day as well with Dan 5th and Emile 11th and my 14th.
