LCCC’s first Reliability Ride took place on Sunday 17th March and it has quickly cemented its place in the early season calendar. Approximately 120 riders signed on for the event at Mabel’s Conservatory, part of Curborough Countryside Centre, and it was encouraging to see riders of varying abilities take part. Also notable was the significant proportion of female cyclists, something the club is keen to promote.
There were two route options, one of around 50km following quiet local roads and a longer one of approximately 100km which headed to Market Bosworth. Riders were blessed with bright but breezy conditions at the start, rain from the day before having thankfully cleared overnight, but some were unlucky enough to be greeted by a hailstorm on the return back to the Lichfield area!
Everyone was keen to tuck into homemade cakes from Mabel’s and hot drinks back at the conservatory and it was widely agreed that the venue was perfect for the occasion. All profits raised are to go to St Giles Hospice so thanks to everyone who supported the event. Special thanks go to Ade Hatton who took ownership of the idea and made it happen.
