Training at Curborough will start on Tuesday 28th March at 6.30pm. Please note this session is aimed at u16 and u14, although riders ability to be in this group will be down to the coaches discretion.
There will be a grass session on Tuesdays starting on 11th April and is aimed at riders from new to U12 approx.
Thursday evening training will begin on 30th March at 6.30pm and is aimed at riders under 12. This group will split in groups depending on numbers, rider ability and coaches availability.
For all sessions please be ready to ride at 6.30pm and make sure you have correct clothing as it is still cold at Curborough at this time of year. Extra time will be needed on your first session to review consent forms.
Please note – the number of riders that coaches can coach is limited by safety, their licence conditions and practicalities. If numbers are likely to be exceeded then priority will be given to Lichfield 1st and 2nd claim members.
This year all non Members will be charged £5 per session. This will be waived for the first Thursday session to assess the coaching requirements due to the number of new riders likely to be present.
Consent forms must be presented before riders can join a session – this applies to ALL sessions. Forms are on the website (see earlier post) – they will not be available on the evening.
Thursdays – the requirement for new riders is that they must be able to start on their own, pedal in a straight(ish) line and stop using the brakes. There is no minimum age but bikes must have pedals. Riders will progress to the circuit based on safety, ability and must have a suitable bike for the standard of the session. Up until that point they will ride either on a part circuit or off-circuit on the tarmac areas.
Coaches are happy to give feedback to parents/carers own riders and are also well placed to offer information on cycling / racing etc. Please ask.
Coaches are however lousy mechanics (just check their own bikes). Please ensure your riders machine is safe and mechanically sound. Whilst there will always be breakages we cannot attend to one riders bike at the expense of the other riders in the session. Again please ask – many parents have knowledge and will be happy to assist.
To repeat it’s cold at Curborough, even in the summer, riders and spectators wrap up well and enjoy!
